Privacy & Data
Simple privacy for a simple family cookbook.
Our Family Kitchen is designed to be useful without requiring an account, tracking people, or collecting more information than it needs.
What stays on your device
Your display name, personal ratings, favorites, notes, recently opened recipes, and custom recipes are stored locally on your device using your browser's local storage.
That means those personal details are meant for your copy of the cookbook. They do not edit the master cookbook and they are not synced to other people automatically.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not require a login to use the cookbook.
- We do not currently use advertising cookies.
- We do not collect payment information inside the cookbook.
- We do not store your personal ratings or custom recipes on our server.
Important local-storage note
Because your personal cookbook copy is stored locally, if someone clears browser data, uses a different browser, switches phones, or uninstalls the web app, that may remove saved ratings, notes, recent recipes, and custom recipes from that device.
Shopping links
Shopping Mode can copy a grocery list and open grocery websites such as Instacart or Hannaford. Those grocery websites are separate services with their own privacy practices. Our Family Kitchen does not complete orders or take payment.
Future improvements
If we add optional accounts, cloud sync, analytics, donations, or app store features later, this page should be updated before those features are released.
